Some Of The Great Awardees Of Bharat Ratna

Bharat Ratna Award is the most valuable and honourable civilian award , presented by the Government of India.
The term Bharat Ratna means the “Jewel of India”.
1. C. Rajagopalachari

Chakravarti Rajagopalachari (10 December 1878 – 25 December 1972) was the first and the only governor general of Independent India. He was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 1955.
2. Dr. C. V. Raman

Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman (7 November 1888 – 21 November 1970) was an Indian physicist, the recipient of the Nobel Prize for physics in 1930. He was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 1954.
3. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (5 September 1888 – 17 April 1975) was an eminent philosopher and a respectful political leader of India who served as India’s first Vice-President from 1952 to 1962 and later as the second President from 1962 to 19967. He was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 1954.
4. Amartya Sen

Amartya Kumar Sen (3 November 1933) is a distinguished economist and philospher, awarded the Nobel Prize in 1998 for his seminal work in welfare economics. He was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 1999.
5. Ustad Bismillah Khan

Bismillah Khan (21 March 1916 – 21 August 2006) was the legendary shehnai player, the third classical musician to be awarded the Bharat Ratna and achieved global acclaim for playing the shehnai for more than eight decades. He was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 2001.
6. Dr. Rajendra Prasad

Rajendra Prasad (3 December 1884 – 28 February 1963) was the first President of the Republic of India. A lawyer turned journalist, he was also President of the Indian National Congress. He was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 1963.
7. Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar (24 April 1973) is the first sports man to be awarded with Bharat Ratna in 2014. He was also the youngest recipient of this award.
8. Lata Mangeshkar

Lata Mangeshkar (28 September 1929) is the legendary Indian playback singer, sang for more than 2,000 Indian films in a career spanning nearly 6 decades. She was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 2001.
